"In the Face of History," a portfolio of poems from George Szirtes in the February 2008 issue of Poetry written in response to an exhibition at the Barbican in London - “In the Face of History: European Photographers in the Twentieth Century.”

Yesterday in the Guardian, Szirtes compared the novel and the poem: “Poetry is where the presence burns more than the narrative drive.”
